The trail then descends to Siberia Stream and the Siberia Hut, where you will spend two nights. From the Young Hut, you will climb through the treeline into the alpine zone, cross the spectacular Gillespie Pass and enjoy impressive views before re-entering the forest. From there you follow the Young River through silver beech forest, before climbing steadily to the Young Hut for the night. The adventure begins right away with a river crossing or a quick boat ride over the Makarora if its running high. The trek begins just north of Makarora Township with a short walk to the junction of the Makarora and Young Rivers. The track is well established and we cut short the final days walking down the Wilkin Valley with an exhilherating jet boat ride.
